5 ὅτιthat ἐνin παντὶevery (thing) ἐπλουτίσθητεyou were enriched ἐνin αὐτῷ,him, ἐνin παντὶall λόγῳword καὶand πάσῃall γνώσει,knowledge, 6 καθὼςaccording as τὸthe μαρτύριονwitness τοῦof the χριστοῦChrist ἐβεβαιώθηwas stabilized ἐνin ὑμῖν,you, 7 ὥστεas-and ὑμᾶςyou μὴnot ὑστερεῖσθαιto be behind ἐνin μηδενὶnot one χαρίσματι,gracious gift, ἀπεκδεχομένουςeagerly awaiting τὴνthe ἀποκάλυψινrevelation τοῦof the κυρίουLord ἡμῶνof us ἸησοῦJesus Χριστοῦ·Christ; 8 ὃςwho καὶalso βεβαιώσειwill stabilize ὑμᾶςyou ἕωςuntil τέλουςend ἀνεγκλήτουςunaccusable ἐνin τῇthe ἡμέρᾳday τοῦof the κυρίουLord ἡμῶνof us Ἰησοῦof Jesus Χριστοῦ.Christ. 9 πιστὸςFaithful ὁthe θεὸςGod δι’through οὗwhom ἐκλήθητεyou were called εἰςinto κοινωνίανsharing τοῦof the υἱοῦSon αὐτοῦof him Ἰησοῦof Jesus ΧριστοῦChrist τοῦthe κυρίουLord ἡμῶν.of us.

10 ΠαρακαλῶI am encouraging δὲbut ὑμᾶς,you, ἀδελφοί,brothers, διὰthrough τοῦthe ὀνόματοςname τοῦof the κυρίουLord ἡμῶνof us Ἰησοῦof Jesus ΧριστοῦChrist ἵναin order that τὸthe αὐτὸvery (thing) λέγητεyou may be saying πάντες,all (ones), καὶand μὴnot ᾖmay be ἐνin ὑμῖνyou σχίσματα,splits, ἦτεyou may be δὲbut κατηρτισμένοιhaving been adjusted down ἐνin τῷthe αὐτῷvery νοΐmind καὶand ἐνin τῇthe αὐτῇvery γνώμῃ.opinion. 11 ἐδηλώθηIt was made evident γάρfor μοιto me περὶabout ὑμῶν,you, ἀδελφοίbrothers μου,of me, ὑπὸby τῶνthe (ones) Χλόηςof Chloe ὅτιthat ἔριδεςacts of strife ἐνin ὑμῖνyou εἰσίν.are. 12 λέγωI am saying δὲbut τοῦτοthis ὅτιthat ἕκαστοςeach (one) ὑμῶνof you λέγειis saying ᾿ΕγὼI μένindeed εἰμιI am Παύλου,of Paul, ᾿ΕγὼI δὲbut ᾿Απολλώ,of Apollos, ᾿ΕγὼI δὲbut Κηφᾶ,of Cephas, ᾿ΕγὼI δὲbut Χριστοῦ.of Christ. 13 μεμέρισταιHas been parted ὁthe χριστός.Christ. μὴNot ΠαῦλοςPaul ἐσταυρώθηwas put on cross ὑπὲρover ὑμῶν,you, ἢor εἰςinto τὸthe ὄνομαname Παύλουof Paul ἐβαπτίσθητε;were you baptized? 14 εὐχαριστῶI am giving thanks ὅτιthat οὐδέναnone ὑμῶνof you ἐβάπτισαI baptized εἰif μὴnot ΚρίσπονCrispus καὶand Γαῖον,Gaius, 15 ἵναin order that μήnot τιςsomeone εἴπῃshould say ὅτιthat εἰςinto τὸthe ἐμὸνmy ὄνομαname ἐβαπτίσθητε·you were baptized; 16 ἐβάπτισαI baptized δὲbut καὶalso τὸνthe Στεφανᾶof Stephanas οἶκον·house; λοιπὸνleftover (thing) οὐκnot οἶδαI have known εἴif τιναanybody ἄλλονother ἐβάπτισα.I baptized. 17 οὐNot γὰρfor ἀπέστειλένsent off μεme ΧριστὸςChrist βαπτίζεινto be baptizing ἀλλὰbut εὐαγγελίζεσθαι,to be declaring good news, οὐκnot ἐνin σοφίᾳwisdom λόγου,of word, ἵναin order that μὴnot κενωθῇmight be made empty ὁ  the σταυρὸςcross τοῦof the χριστοῦ.Christ.

18 ὉThe λόγοςword γὰρfor ὁthe τοῦof the σταυροῦcross τοῖςto the (ones) μὲνindeed ἀπολλυμένοιςdestroying themselves μωρίαfoolishness ἐστίν,it is, τοῖςto the (ones) δὲbut σωζομένοιςbeing saved ἡμῖνto us δύναμιςpower θεοῦof God ἐστίν.it is. 19 γέγραπταιIt has been written γάρfor ᾿ΑπολῶI will destroy τὴνthe σοφίανwisdom τῶνof the σοφῶν,wise (ones), καὶand τὴνthe σύνεσινcomprehension τῶνof the συνετῶνcomprehending (ones) ἀθετήσω.I shall put aside. 20 ποῦWhere σοφός;wise (one)? ποῦWhere γραμματεύς;scribe? ποῦWhere συνζητητὴςseeker together τοῦof the αἰῶνοςage τούτου;this? οὐχὶNot ἐμώρανενmade foolish ὁthe θεὸςGod τὴνthe σοφίανwisdom τοῦof the κόσμου;world? 21 ἐπειδὴSince γὰρfor ἐνin τῇthe σοφίᾳwisdom τοῦof the θεοῦGod οὐκnot ἔγνωknew ὁthe κόσμοςworld διὰthrough τῆςthe σοφίαςwisdom τὸνthe θεόν,God, εὐδόκησενthought well ὁthe θεὸςGod διὰthrough τῆςthe μωρίαςfoolishness τοῦof the κηρύγματοςpreaching σῶσαιto save τοὺςthe (ones) πιστεύοντας.believing.

22 ἐπειδὴSince καὶand ἸουδαῖοιJews σημεῖαsigns αἰτοῦσινare asking for καὶand ἝλληνεςGreeks σοφίανwisdom ζητοῦσιν·are seeking; 23 ἡμεῖςwe δὲbut κηρύσσομενare preaching ΧριστὸνChrist ἐσταυρωμένον,having been crucified, Ἰουδαίοιςto Jews μὲνindeed σκάνδαλονfall-causer ἔθνεσινto nations δὲbut μωρίαν,foolishness, 24 αὐτοῖςto them δὲbut τοῖςto the κλητοῖς,called (ones), Ἰουδαίοιςto Jews τεand καὶand Ἕλλησιν,to Greeks, ΧριστὸνChrist θεοῦof God δύναμινpower καὶand θεοῦof God σοφίαν.wisdom. 25 ὅτιBecause τὸthe (thing) μωρὸνfoolish τοῦof the θεοῦGod σοφώτερονwiser τῶνof the ἀνθρώπωνmen ἐστίν,it is, καὶand τὸthe (thing) ἀσθενὲςweak τοῦof the θεοῦGod ἰσχυρότερονstronger τῶνof the ἀνθρώπων.men.

26 ΒλέπετεYou are looking at γὰρfor τὴνthe κλῆσινcalling ὑμῶν,of you, ἀδελφοί,brothers, ὅτιthat οὐnot πολλοὶmany σοφοὶwise (ones) κατὰaccording to σάρκα,flesh, οὐnot πολλοὶmany δυνατοί,powerful (ones) οὐnot πολλοὶmany εὐγενεῖς·well-generated (ones); 27 ἀλλὰbut τὰthe (things) μωρὰfoolish τοῦof the κόσμουworld ἐξελέξατοchose ὁthe θεός,God, ἵναin order that καταισχύνῃhe might shame down τοὺςthe σοφούς,wise (ones), καὶand τὰthe (things) ἀσθενῆweak τοῦof the κόσμουworld ἐξελέξατοchose ὁthe θεός,God, ἵναin order that καταισχύνῃhe might shame down τὰthe (things) ἰσχυρά,strong, 28 καὶand τὰthe (things) ἀγενῆnon-generated τοῦof the κόσμουworld καὶand τὰthe (things) ἐξουθενημέναhaving been treated as nothing ἐξελέξατοchose ὁthe θεός,God, καὶand τὰthe (things) μὴnot ὄντα,being, ἵναin order that τὰthe (things) ὄνταbeing καταργήσῃ,might make ineffective, 29 ὅπωςso that μὴnot καυχήσηταιmight boast πᾶσαall σὰρξflesh ἐνώπιονin sight τοῦof the θεοῦ.God. 30 ἐξOut of αὐτοῦhim δὲbut ὑμεῖςyou ἐστὲare ἐνin ΧριστῷChrist Ἰησοῦ,Jesus, ὃςwho ἐγενήθηbecame σοφίαwisdom ἡμῖνto us ἀπὸfrom θεοῦ,God, δικαιοσύνηrighteousness τεand καὶand ἁγιασμὸςsanctification καὶand ἀπολύτρωσις,release by ransom, 31 ἵναin order that καθὼςaccording as γέγραπταιit has been written ὉThe (one) καυχώμενοςboasting ἐνin ΚυρίῳLord καυχάσθω.let him be boasting.
