Daniel’s prophecies were not merely about the coming of the Messiah; they also hinted at the significant ramifications for Israel if they rejected their prophesied Savior. Jesus Christ himself lamented over Jerusalem, saying, “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!” (Matthew 23:37, UASV). The destruction of Jerusalem in 70 C.E. by the Roman legions under General Titus was a catastrophic event that signified divine judgment upon Israel for their rejection of the Messiah. Tens of thousands perished, the temple was destroyed, and the nation dispersed. This dispersion had a profound theological implication: it marked the end of fleshly Israel as God’s exclusively chosen people, in harmony with Daniel’s prophecy. God’s focus shifted from fleshly Israel to spiritual Israel, that is, the Christian congregation.
Additional Prophecies about Jesus That Were Fulfilled
Numerous other prophecies pointed to various aspects of Jesus’ life, mission, and destiny. Isaiah foretold the virgin birth of Jesus (Isaiah 7:14). Micah pinpointed Bethlehem as the birthplace of the Messiah (Micah 5:2). Zechariah predicted that Jesus would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12-13). Psalms described the crucifixion in vivid detail, including the piercing of Jesus’ hands and feet (Psalm 22:16) and the casting of lots for his clothing (Psalm 22:18).
Implications of Fulfilled Prophecy for Biblical Credibility
The fulfillment of Biblical prophecies serves as an incontrovertible testament to the Bible’s divine origin. The accurate and specific nature of these prophecies, which span diverse subjects and timelines, negates the possibility of mere human orchestration. These fulfilled prophecies demonstrate the operation of a Supreme Intelligence governing human history. The weight of this evidence serves to debunk any claims or criticisms from skeptics that the Bible is solely a human artifact.
Confidence from Fulfilled Prophecy
The track record of fulfilled prophecies inspires a profound level of confidence in the reliability of Scripture. In a world full of uncertainties, the fulfilled prophecies offer an anchor, affirming the belief in an omnipotent, omniscient, and providential God. For believers, this is not just academic; it provides assurance that future prophecies concerning eternal life and the establishment of God’s kingdom will likewise come to pass.
Conclusion
The history of Israel and the fulfilled prophecies about Jesus Christ serve as compelling evidence of the Bible’s predictive accuracy and divine inspiration. Daniel’s prophecy laid out the trajectory of Israel, foretelling the consequences of their choices with unerring accuracy. Other prophecies about Jesus came true, down to the minutest details. This confluence of fulfilled prophecies not only strengthens the internal consistency and reliability of the Bible but also empowers believers with the confidence that God’s Word is the bedrock of truth. Amidst the cacophony of skepticism and disbelief, the fulfilled prophecies stand as beacons of divine wisdom and truth, inviting all to trust in the eternal promises that are yet to be fulfilled.

The Jewish people will always be God’s covenanted chosen people. Believers in Messiah are grafted in.
Wrong. It is if that is what you want to believe, but that is not what Jesus said, or what the NT teaches. The apostle John said, anyone rejecting Jesus Christ is the antichrist, which means in opposition or against Christ.
